Create a book layout consisting of a title page, intro page, and a two page "guts" layout. The layout had to clearly utilize one of the canon of page constructions.
Utilizing Van de Graaf's canon of page layout, which utilizes ad 1:9 2:9 ratio, I positioned text and pictures staying with in the margins of this canon. This canon guided me to a pleasing reader experience and neat lay out. I am very into photography, so the theme of the book was no problem. I kept the title pages simple to read for the reader, to ready the reader, for the pleasing layout to come. The page before the intro page lists some of the many types of light modifiers. The words are not leaded because each modifier is a integral part to creating beautiful light. They are all parts of a whole. This page gives more information about what is to come. The vernacular on either edge of the margin, speak about the pictures on each page. These sidebars are laid out in such a way, to compliment the rest of the book layout.
Van de Graaf's canon of pages helped me to create a harmonious design. The layout is balanced, interesting and clean. It guides the viewers flawlessly though each page and is inviting to the viewer.
